Events: State Fair 4-H Horse Judging Contest
A junior (4-H ages 9-13) and a senior (4-H ages 14-18) contest are held. A county may send two junior and two senior teams. If a county does not have a team, (minimum of three or maximum of four youth), one or two individuals, or one team and one or two individuals may attend per county in each contest. A team can not include both junior and senior youth. The contest in 2008 will be on Wednesday, July 30th. Registration is from 11:00 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. and the contest begins at 12:30 p.m. Registration will be in North end of Voinivich and the contest will be in Cooper arena. Awards will be presented at 6:00 p.m. in the Voinivich Arena to the top five teams and top ten individuals in both age divisions and to the top ten senior youth in Oral Reasons. The top two senior county teams at state fair, will go on to represent Ohio in regional and/or the Eastern National 4-H Horse Judging Contest. The State 4-H Office will determine the contests they may enter. The teams will be notified accordingly. Financial aid will be given to teams to compete in these contests. Coaches of winning teams may ask 4-H'ers who place in the top twenty individual category in the contest to be on their team if they are unable to keep four members on their team due to illness, conflict with school events, etc. |
