  OSU Equine Studies: Facilities: Breaking and Training

Paddocks
Animal Science 271, Breaking and Training, is offered every winter quarter tat the OSU Equine Center. Class begins in early January and is complete around the middle of March. Horses are housed at the Equine Center, where students are assigned an individual horse to work with a minimum of 5 hours per week. Each training program is designed to fit the needs of the individual horse, but typically consist of lunging, saddling, ground driving and work under saddle. At the completion of the quarter horses will be "green broke" or able to walk, jog/trot, lope/canter, stop and back.
