Congress: Horse Judging Contest - Youth

Collegiate, Quarter Horse Associations, 4H and FFA horse judging teams from across the United States converge on the All American Quarter Horse Congress to participate in the Congress Intercollegiate and Junior Judging Contest. Teams from both divisions place four halter and eight performance classes. Each contestant must give oral reasons, an explanation of their placings, for specific halter and performance classes. Collegiate teams will present 5 sets of reasons, 2 halter and 3 performance, while Junior teams will give 2 halter and 2 performance sets.

Youth participating in 4H, FFA or Youth Quarter Horse Associations are encouraged to compete in the Junior Division Judging Contest. Each state is allowed to enter one 4H, one FFA and one Quarter Horse Association team. Junior Division teams must have 3 or 4 members to be eligible for competition with the 3 highest scores making up the composite score for the team.

Contest to be held October 15, 2008

A Judging clinic is held each year on Tuesday before the contest from 1-3 PM on the Congress show grounds. The National Horse Judging Team Coaches Association holds a meeting after the clinic and a coaches meeting follows at about 4 PM for the contest that is held on the 15th. Details will be sent out with the acceptance of your registration. The awards breakfast for the contest results will be Thursday morning, Oct 16th in Rhodes Hall on the Congress grounds.
