  Congress: Horse Judging Contest - Collegiate

Collegiate, Quarter Horse Associations, 4H and FFA horse judging teams from across the United States converge on the All American Quarter Horse Congress to participate in the Congress Intercollegiate and Junior Judging Contest. Teams from both divisions place four halter and eight performance classes. Each contestant must give oral reasons, an explanation of their placings, for specific halter and performance classes. Collegiate teams will present 5 sets of reasons, 2 halter and 3 performance, while Junior teams will give 2 halter and 2 performance sets.

Collegiate Judging Contest entries are accepted for any properly accredited two- or four-year college or university in the United States and Canada. Collegiate teams must consist of four or five members with the four highest scores making the composite score for the team.  Universities may send two teams per division.

Contest to be held October 15, 2008

Entry Fee and deadline: $150 by September 18th, 2008. (Late fee $175 after 9/18)  No Entries Accepted After 10/02/08  Universities with less than two (2) FULL teams (4-5 members) will be charged $50 per person.  

A Judging clinic is held each year on Tuesday before the contest from 1-3 PM on the Congress show grounds in the Travel & Transportation Building. The National Horse Judging Team Coaches Association holds a meeting after the clinic and a coaches meeting follows at about 4 PM for the contest that is held on the 15th. Details will be sent out with the acceptance of your registration. The awards breakfast for the contest results will be Thursday morning, Oct 16th in Rhodes Hall on the Congress grounds.
