Ohio 4-H Hippology Contest
Rules
GENERAL RULES AND REGULATIONS
- Each county may enter two teams consisting of at least three (3) members
but not more than four (4) members per team. When four (4) contestants
are designated, all will participate and the lowest scoring individual
overall will be automatically designated as alternate. The alternate's
scores will not be included in team scores but alternates will be eligible
for individual awards.
- Teams may be selected by any means appropriate to the county they
represent.
- Contestants must have been at least 14 years of age on or before December
31 of the preceding year but not have passed their 19th birthday by
January 1 of the current year. A state junior contest is also held,
and team members must be a 4-H member less than 14 years old. A county
may send up to two junior and two senior teams to the state competition.
- All contestants must be enrolled in 4-H during the current year.
- Contestants may not have participated in an official, post secondary
hippology, horse bowl, nor horse judging contest nor have been in training
in preparation for one of these contests.
- Senior contestants on the champion team are not eligible to compete in this contest in subsequent years. The only exception would be if they also were on another champion team or champion speaker(s) in the speaking contests that same year. In that case they can choose which other event they will represent Ohio in at the Eastern National Contest and could repeat, this contest in following years. We expect that the champion team will represent Ohio at the Eastern National Contest. All Junior teams may return.
- Entry Deadline: May 31 of the current year. Entry must be sent
to Amber D. Moffett at 2029 Fyffe Road, Columbus, Ohio 43210-1095. An
entry fee of $30.00 per team MUST accompany the entry. Make checks
payable to The State 4-H Horse Committee.
